The Five Stages of Taylor Swift

Try as I might, I can't hate Taylor Swift music for too long. Sure the lyrics are insipid, the melodies are overused, and the "my ex is so mean!" message behind every.single.song is enough to make me want to shove a screwdriver in my ear, but I end up dancing along to her music soon enough. And I decided to make a quick video documenting the typical evolution of her music with me.

And, like I said on my YouTube page: This video is not for commercial gain and the song "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" is used purely for commentary and parody purposes, as part of the Fair Use Act, 17 U.S.C. § 107. "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" is copyright 2012, Big Machine Records. I do not claim any copyright ownership of the song, or of Taylor Swift -- because that would be weird.

(Can you see why I decided against law school during my, "What will I do with my BA in English?" quandary?)

Also, spot the scene that I did while still recovering from my wisdom tooth removal. And I wonder why I ended up getting dry socket.

Post-Wisdom Tooth Vlogging: "Through the Gauze"

This can give you an idea of how little tolerance I have for just sitting around. To backtrack, I lucked out in that I only have one wisdom tooth. The other three? Don't exist; never will exist. This is actually a thing -- many scientists believe that this is part of the next step in human evolution. Upwards of a third of people these days don't even have any wisdom teeth.

Now, if I were truly lucky, I would've been one of the 33%, as this one wisdom tooth was impacted and growing in on the side. The result? An hour in the dentist chair as they chiseled and chipped at my mouth. They only gave me general anesthesia, meaning I was fit to drive immediately after.

The result? A vlog the second I got home and a road trip up to gorgeous little towns like Goffstown and New Boston, NH (more on that later).

While I'm feeling the effects today (no road trips today, let me tell you...), I can, from my very sedentary position, post the vlog from yesterday:

Five Things You Should Never Say (If You Want to Become a Model)

Working in the modeling world definitely comes with a full set of frustrations. From Runway Moms to The Ever Shrinking Size of Industry Standard, there's a lot more to it than just looking pretty in a camera. But I decided to make a quick video about one of the more lighthearted frustrations: the silly things "aspiring models" tend to say and why it's best to keep those thoughts to yourself:

Oh, I Think I'm HILARIOUS

So, for those keeping track, I'm a preschool teaching crafts blogger, model, and writer, on a perilous quest to publish her own book in ebook format (on top of learning to master ice hockey, yoga, & tai chi, and fulfill all the tedious professional development hours required of teachers).

Obviously, I don't have enough on my plate.

So why not unEarth my old YouTube page, wipe away the cobwebs, and start that up again?

Back in 2007, I started ThatBostonChick, which was a one-woman quasi-comedy show, filled with random vlogs and low-budget skits. Somewhere in late 2009/early 2010, my interest in it petered out, and the channel was officially pronounced DOA in March 2011 (when things got really crazy with wedding planning, moving, teaching, classes, etc, etc…)

(If it's not noticeable yet, I pride myself on taking on way more than I can chew.)

This is my first installment back. I honestly filmed it at 7:30 in the morning, after waxing philosophical on how the internet is so welcoming when you're tired, but it doesn't actually wake you up.

You are more than welcome to check out more of my work here. Be forewarned: the camera quality is poor, the humor is college-aged, and I'm a one-tricky pony when it comes to acting. But I can't hate on my youthful years on YouTube too much. Thanks to YouTube, I've been able to take part in a small handful of local short films and improv shows (and I am actually in talks with a director to be part of a feature-length indie film, slated to film in December, fingers crossed). I even got a few modeling gigs because they saw my page and decided they "wanted a model with some character to her."

Now, if I could pencil in filming and editing videos somewhere between waking up and the rest of my life, I'll be all set.
